Experience Scouting!
Boy Scout Troop 97 strives to develop good character, citizenship, and leadership abilities in our youth by following the Boy Scout methods defined in the Scout Oath and Scout Law Troop 97 meets on the second and forth Monday evenings during the school year at Evangel United Methodist Church.

Troop 97 has been a part of Gamehaven Council since 1987. The troop is a youth-run organization (with minimal adult guidance). Troop 97 has an active Patrol-Leader Council and six active patrols. There are currently over 30 scouts in the troop. They range from 5th through 12th grade.

Troop 97 participates in many outdoor activities throughout the year. They also attend a one-week BSA Summer camp. This year they plan to attend Lewis and Clark Scout Camp located near Yankton South Dakota.

The older scouts also have the option to participate in venture outings. Past venture outings have taken us hiking, backpacking, canoeing, and kayaking Isle Royale, Little Big Horns, Boundary Waters Canoe Area, and Apostle Islands.
Since 1994, 14 scouts from Troop 97 have attained Eagle Scout rank, which is the highest rank in Boy Scouts.

They participate in many community service projects, such as the annual Channel One Food Drive and bell ringing for the Salvation Army. During the 2006 holiday season, Troop 97 was recognized by the Salvation Army as the "Top-Earning Troop" in Rochester!

Dues are collected once yearly. Scouts are encouraged to raise their dues and camping fees through troop fundraisers, such as our annual wreath sale and popcorn sale.
